Mezzanines are often designed using one of three base line designs.  Free Standing, Rack Supported or Shelving Supported.  Often the more expensive design is the Free Standing design when compared with a Rack Supported design.  If you require open and free space under the mezzanine, then free standing in the only alternative.  If however, you intend to use the space under  the mezzanine for storage, consider using pallet rack for the storage, and in turn, use the pallet rack to support the mezzanine.  Important design considerations include a number of elements; including clearance above and below the mezzanine. deck material used, mezzanine loading, stairs, and permits, if required.
